Ancient Town:

Ancient Town The whole of "Diocletian Town" is enthralling, in general and in detail, but don't miss one certain item within the wall. It is an ancient town Dominican Chapel, still in use for worship, 33 feet long and 44 inches wide! While halting in Split for a full day at the very least (or for a night or two, if possible, staying at the excellent Park Hotel], take a side trip by car (or bus or boat—consult the local Putnik office) to Trogir, a peaceful "museum town" possessed of many ancient town buildings, located on an islet that is connected by two bridges with the mainland.

SENS, saNs (ancient town AGENDICUM), town and ommune, France, in Yonne Department, on the fonne River, 70 miles southeast of Paris. There .re fine examples of early Gothic and Renaissance .rchitecture, including the Cathedral of St. itienne, which dates mostly from the 12th century, ,nd museums rich in medieval and classical re-nains. Manufactures include agricultural machin-:ry, railroad equipment, bricks, and biscuits, and here is a bronze foundry. In ancient town times it vas the capital of the Senones and one of the nost important cities of Gaul. Pop. (1954) town .7,184; commune 18,612.

CITIUM, sish'e-am, was an ancient town city on the southeastern coast of Cyprus. The site lies near the modern town of Larnaca, which is the administrative center of the eparchy (district) of Larnaca. Larnaca was founded by Frankish Crusaders and was called both Larnacas and Alykes (after the salt marsh that was worked for salt both in antiquity and in modern times). The town was the main port of the island during the period of Turkish domination. A small village about 6 miles (10 km) west of Larnaca preserves the name of the ancient town site.
