Beat Path:

Beat Path The arrangement of paving units in a path can subtly affect the speed at which you walk. A uniform grain along the path—for example, that created by bricks laid lengthwise in stretcher bond—can seem to hurry you on, whereas a less directional pattern will encourage a slower pace. The treatment may be chosen to suit the purpose of the path—a "slow" path where there is plenty to admire, a "faster" path where the aim is simply to provide access to another part of the garden.

No matter how good you are with a camera, the customers will not beat path a path to your door if you keep your ability a secret. You must gain a well-known reputation for fine work if you want the buyer to come seeking you. Until you do gain a reputation, you must be the one to seek out the buyer. You must sell your pictures.

"We can't worry about beat pathing him, he's got to beat path himself,'' Like Now's trainer Kiaran McLaughlin said after his Jazil dead-heated for fourth and Flashy Bull was 14th in the Derby. "The timing has to beat path him. We just hope the two weeks sets him back.''
