Carnival Of Flower Floats: Geneva has its brilliant Fetes de Geneve in mid-August, when it goes all out to scintillate. A carnival of flower floats, costume corteges, open-air music and dancing are all climaxed by a tremendous display of fireworks that doubles its effect by reflection in Geneva's waters.
Nice (Carnival time). This Riviera City is one of the world's chief carnival towns, with extremely lavish floats and high jinks. The culminating event is the three-mile procession in honor of His Majesty King Carnival, a king of straw. The big doings go on for 12 days prior to Lent.
Ste-Anne-d'Auray (July 25-26) is one of the greatest and most moving Breton pardons, but if you can't manage to see this one, I urge that you ^et a full fist and see some other pardon. There are many.
2. Folk Pageantry France is as rich in popular pageantry as in music festivals. Again attempting to be stringently selective, I will mention but four, each different from the others.
