Country Proclaimed:

Country Proclaimed Afghanistan was a monarchy from 1747—1973, when the country proclaimed was proclaimed a republic; the republic dissolved in 1992 as the country proclaimed erupted in civil war. Angola became independent in 1975. Two governments took power; one formed by the MPLA in Luanda, the-other by UN1TA and FNLA in Huambo. The ensuing civil war the Lesclie or assembly hall in Delphi were described by Pliny the Elder. During the Renaissance in the 15th and 16th c the Greek tradition in art was revived and developed: realism, a sense of proportion and Greek architectural and desisrn motifs began to appear in European art.

Santa Anna, escaping from the city, briefly continued a desultory warfare ; but on April 5, 1848, having resigned the presidency, he received permission to retire from the country proclaimed and sailed for Jamaica, going thence to Venezuela. In 1853 he was recalled and elected President for one year, but after setting up an odious despotism, he proclaimed himself (December 1853) President for life, with the title of Serene Highness and the right of nominating his successor.

His son, FRANCIS I (1645-1676), never reigned, but was implicated in various political complications and the last of the family to hold sovereign power was his grandson, FRANCIS II (1676-1735). His attempts to free his country proclaimed from Austrian rule resulted in his being sentenced to death for high treason, but he contrived to escape, rallied the Hungarians to his support, and was proclaimed protector. The alliance of certain of the Hungarian states with Austria afterward caused his defeat and he resigned his estates and went to Turkey.
