Country Suspended:

Country Suspended The inquisition of the Spanish type was introduced and the laws of the country suspended were suspended. Persons accused of heresy were executed by the hundreds. Philip resolved to root out heresy even if it meant the ruin of the country suspended. In vain the best generals in Spain were sent to overcome the resistance of the people. Under the guidance of William of Orange the northern provinces which were almost wholly Protestant declared their independence of Spain, which was finally established at the close of the Thirty Years' War.

Two general classes of vacuum brake equi ment are in common use. One is the atmosphei suspended type, in which the power cylind piston is exposed to atmospheric pressure i both sides in the "brakes fully released" positioi the other is the vacuum suspended type in whii both sides of the power cylinder piston are e: posed to vacuum in the released position. Whe the atmospheric suspended system is used, brak are applied by exhausting air from the chamb at one side of the piston as illustrated on paj 249.

Much of what is called water chemistry is the chemistry of substances suspended or dissolved in water. Water analysis involves the determination of these substances and materials. Except for seawater and occasional brine wells, most surface and underground waters are relatively low in dissolved substances. The amounts of dissolved and suspended matter in water are generally measured in terms of parts per million parts of water, or ppm. What are known as mineral waters, which are popularly thought to have medicinal value, rarely ever have more than 5,000 ppm. dissolved matter. Most public water supplies do not exceed 300 ppm. Suspended matter, except for river water in flood stage, is rarely higher than 1,000 ppm., and is often quite low.
