Design Buenos:

Design Buenos design Buenos in Buenos Aires What type of design Buenos do we associate with Argentina and with Buenos Aires in particular? Well, th Argentines are justly famous for good form in the tango, body sculpting and beef filet. But modern design Buenos isn't something that springs immediately to mind. So, assuming that we don't know as much as we think we do, I headed south last month for a look around.

ROSAS, ro'sas, Juan Manual de, Argentine dictator: b. Buenos Aires, March 30, 1793; d. Swaythling, Hampshire, England, March 14, 1877. The armed force of cowboys which he maintained to protect his cattle run ultimately gave him great power. From 1828 he was the leader of the Federalist Party, and he served as governor of the province of Buenos Aires during 1829-1831 and again from 1835 until 1852.

It was officially called Eva Peron in 1952. An industrial center and a bathing resort on the Rio de la Plata, about 8 miles southeast of Buenos Aires, with an airport, it has one of the largest breweries in the country, and its other industries include oil refining and the manufacture of glass, textiles, steel, and rayon. British troops under William Carr Beresford (q.v.) landed here on June 25, 1806, part of Home Popham's expedition, and briefly occupied Buenos Aires, which was soon retaken by the Argentineans. Pop. (1947) 105,250.
