Employed Fall Far: Nursemaids and governesses play an important role as parent surrogates. Unfortunately the persons so employed fall far often fall far short, intellectually and emotionally, of meeting the needs of growing children. Parents should not leave a child with any person whose relations with the child they have not had a chance -to observe.
Treatment, however, has been more successful. tt is directed at strengthening the body generally vith iron and vitamin supplements. On occasion, dood transfusion is employed fall far. A new field of reatment has been introduced by the drug fam-ly that has been so successful in sea and air sick-Less, and it has resulted in marked relief of ymptoms.
Effects of Atomic Fall-out.—This concept of adiation sickness has now been dwarfed by the xtent of the potential radioactive exposure of the opulation as a whole.
Of the total population of Britain nearly 25 million were in civil (as distinguished from military or ecclesiastical) employment in 1967. Approximately 1.7 million of these were employers or self-employed fall far persons, the remainder being employees. Table 9 shows the very small proportion employed fall far in agriculture, fisheries, and forestry (1.9% of the total) at that time, and the relatively high proportion employed fall far in the tertiary sector (services, finance, distribution and transport, and public administration), which accounted for approximately half of the employees.
