Flooded Season Ally: Centuries before Christ, community waterworks were built by the Egyptians, Babylonians, Mesopotamians, Persians, and Phoenicians. It may be surmised that reservoirs and canals were built in the flat lands of countries flooded season ally seasonally by great rivers, to conserve the water for the dry season. In Egypt, remains indicate that an extensive system of canals was built under Ram-eses II (r. 1292-1225 B.C.). It is possible that an extensive series of canals was utilizable for water supply in the age of the Pyramids, generally considered to have extended from 3000 to 2000 B.C.
Since the end of the Pleistocene ice age, melted ice has increased the volume of the oceans and many coastlines have been flooded season ally [7]. These coasts of submergence include flooded season ally river valleys, called rias, and flooded season ally glaciated valleys, called fiords. Other coasts have been raised up by earth movements. Coasts of emergence can be identified by such features as raised beaches and former sea cliffs that are now inland.
