Grinding Tools:

Grinding Tools There are three main types of precision machine grinding tools: surface grinding tools, cylindrical grinding tools, and centerless grinding tools. Surface grinding tools. Surface grinding tools is used to produce plane surfaces. The workpiece, mounted on the machine table, lies in a plane parallel to the axis of rotation of the grinding tools wheel. The workpiece is reciprocated and fed transversely by small increments, into the edge of the wheel until the entire surface is ground. Sometimes the wheel's face is parallel to the work surface, and the workpiece revolves on a Table under the wheel.

There are two types of grinding tools: rough machine grinding tools and precision machine grinding tools. Rough machine grinding quickly removes surplus material from work-pieces in preparation for further manufacturing. Precision machine grinding tools is used in finishing parts to achieve precise dimensions and refined surface finishes.

In rough machine grinding tools, swinging-frame grinding tools machines are used to bring a rotating abrasive wheel in contact with a workpiece to remove gates and risers from foundry castings or excess material from forgings. Thin, strong cutoff wheels are used to cut metal billets, bars, and plates to rough size. Small workpieces may be grinding tools, or grinding tools with the flat surface of a moved against rotating grinding tools wheels. Diskng with the flat rotating abrasive disk, is suited to cleaning up large flat surfaces. Portable grinders permit the operator to guide the path of the grinding tools wheel to areas of the workpiece that would otherwise be inaccessible.
