Hedging Plants: There are many excellent hedging plants, some with attractive foliage, others that make ideal informal flowering hedges. Whichever is chosen, it is worth bearing in mind that a hedge provides shelter as well as beauty. Careful positioning in an exposed garden can make all the difference when it comes to growing some of the less robust plants. So always consider hedges in relation to the other plants you intend to grow.
These are essential for extensive hedging. Gasoline-powered generators that power electrical hedge clipper are ideal in areas far away from power supplies. Also, there are cordless types which can cut about 900 sq ft of hedging before needing to be recharged from a mains electricity supply. However most types are powered by mains electricity.
FOR CULTURAL reasons, some plants need a special environment: many alpines need a rockery, scree bed or Sink garden, while bog plants require damp soil and aquatic plants depend on water. In a small backyard, you may not have room for more than a few plants of each type.
