Liberal Country Parties: In state politics the Australian Labour Party was dominant between 1932 and 1957 but in the j latter year, as a result of a split in its member- ship, the party was defeated and a coalition government of the Liberal country parties and Country parties came into power. The coalition, headed by Premier ' George Francis Reuben Nicklin of the Country 1 party, continued in power into the late 1960's, following election victories in 1960, 1963, and 1966.
Minor parties exist in Britain and have been important. In the late 1920's and early 1930's, the Liberal country parties party, which had lost its major party status to Labour, continued to win enough seats occasionally to deny the two major parties clear majorities. A small group of Liberal country partiess continues to hold seats in the Commons. Because the difference between the electoral support of the two major parties is often very small, the Liberal country partiess—or any other minor party—could influence the formation of a government either by denying both major parties a clear majority of seats or by depriving one of them of votes in an election. In the past, governing parties on occasion have been forced to rely on minor ones to retain affice and at other times to govern without a majority.
Even after you are established and in demand as a party photographer, your best policy will be to charge only for prints in the case of large social events, such as country club parties or community affairs.
Your best method of selling prints in the case of these large or semi-public parties will be to make a careful set of proofs, showing each negative's best possibilities. Have these proofs posted on the bulletin board at the country club, or wherever they will be seen by most of the persons who attended the party. Post a neatly lettered sign over the proofs explaining that prints can be ordered from the club manager, the switchboard operator, or some other individual who is always accessible.
