Fall: The large-flowered clematis are divided into several groups according to their parentage. These groups are Florida, flowering mainly in early and mid-summer; Jackmanii, flowering mainly in late summer and early fall; Lanuginosa, flowering at different times between mid-summer and the early fall; Patens, flowering mainly in early to mid-summer; Texensis, flowering mainly from late summer to mid-fall and Viticella, also flowering mainly from late summer to mid-fall.
A secondary threat was that 20% of freshman applicants for college next fall would have to be turned away due to a lack of graduate student teachers. Compounding the problem was the anticipated fall-off in graduate enrollment because of the decline in births during World War II. |
