Packaged Containers Home: The freezing of fruits involves the addition of sugar, and with certain fruits the use of an antioxidant such as ascorbic acid to prevent browning. The fruit is packaged containers home in containers for home or institutional use and frozen at a temperature of 20° below zero, after which the containers are removed to a storage compartment. Most frozen fruits, when properly prepared and packaged containers home, are satisfactory during storage for 9 to 12 months at 0°F. or lower.
The total pack of all fruits, berries, and juices frozen in the United States in 1965 was about 1.5 billion pounds. Of this figure, frozen citrus juices accounted for over 885 million pounds. Frozen strawberries came to over 190 million pounds; cherries, to almost 148 million pounds. Over 93 million pounds of frozen apples and applesauce were produced.
What are the markets for these photographic illustrations? All one needs to do is to go to the local public library and thumb through the hundreds of books and magazines displayed there to get an idea of the markets. Look through the women's or fashion magazines—Ladies' Home Journal, McCall's Family Circle, Woman's Day, Vogue, Seventeen, or Glamour—to see the large number of food illustrations, cosmetic ads, and fashion and accessories ads and you will start to realize how many photographic illustrations are being made to supply these markets. Glance through Time, Newsweek, Forbes, or Walk though a supermarket and you will notice that almost all the packaged containers home products are illustrated with photographs, whether the containers hold ice cream, cereal, cake mixes, canned goods, or frozen foods.
In many respects, small containers are more difficult to place. Several small containers scattered about do not necessarily make a bold impact and can look fussy. Furthermore, a group of small containers can also be more difficult to maintain. However, they do come into their own when placed around the edges of larger containers to soften their outlines.
