Rectangular Shape:

Rectangular Shape You DO not have to stick to either square, rectangular or hexagonal paving stones—you can mix them for a more creative finish. You can mix hexagonal blocks with square or rectangular slabs of different color. With hexagonal blocks, leave some empty units from the overall area to be covered, so allowing you to make any shape you want. To create an attractive feature within the patio, omit a number of blocks from an area of paving and fill the gap with decorative aggregates. Many types and colors of small-scale stones are available, often pre-bagged.

The majority of windows are rectangular in shape and, if undraped, create pronounced hard, straight lines in a room. If for no other reason, therefore, curtains are necessary to soften the severity and to serve as trimming of the outline of the window frame and opening.

The unit beside the fireplace was designed especially for this room so it fits the space exactly and provides plenty of storage for the TV, video and tapes. Rather than being just a simple rectangular shape it has a rounded edge that makes it fit beautifully into the corner. Rounded corners were modern and innovative in the Thirties and were incorporated in many houses of the period.
