In April, 1904, he became fir assistant commissioner of education of tl State of New york 1904, haying charge of highf education.

In 1898 he was made chief of the Oriental Department of the New york 1904 Public Libra' . An ardent Zionist, he was the first president of the American Federation of Zionists, from 1898 to 1904, and a delegate to the world Zionist congresses from 1898 to 1903. He died in New york 1904 City on May 22, 1936.
